I lied - I just took a picture of the three of us here in the airport. Not exactly a photographic masterpiece, but it shows we are together. I will leave it to you to believe that we are actually in Brussels. Go have a look.

So - here we are in the Brussels Airport en route to Delhi and then Kathmandu.

It is about 8:30 a.m. here, and 12:30 Edmonton time. My first flight left Edmonton at 11:20 a.m. So I am at about 13 hours of travel and counting.

The flights have gone well for me so far. Our only near glitch was that Vicki, who was flying from Calgary, had her flight depart and arrive late. She arrived only minutes before our flight to Brussels was to depart and had to run ("sprint" she has just corrected me!) through the terminal to catch our flight before they closed the doors on the plane. We doubt that her bags made the connection! But we are hoping.

It is a beautiful morning here - sunny and about +5C - very similar to Edmonton the last couple of days. We are expecting +30C or better in Kathmandu.

So that will do it for my first post. No picture this morning - nothing here that really looks any different than any other airport - not even a sign that really says "Brussels." So look for pictures in future posts.

The departure time is quickly approaching. I leave Saturday morning (October 6) for a long journey: Toronto, Brussels, Delhi, Kathmandu. I will tell you more about the trip in the next few days. Right now I am just setting up my website and blog - and learning lots in this process!
